Desalination plant a “knee-jerk reaction”: experts

Environment experts have grave doubts about Victoria’s new desalination plant, which they say will encourage Melbourne residents to stop saving water.

VICTORIA’S desalination plant, which will provide Melbourne with over 150 billion litres of water per year, has been lambasted by water policy and environmental experts who claim it will lead to increased water usage.

Kelly O’Shanassy, CEO of Environment Victoria labelled the Labor Government’s water policy “reactionary”.
